Post Rock Radio: Episode 3

April 6, 2009

Get yer la-la’s out with “Lalita” and get your shit together with Foes from Detroit. Plus: UME for you and me, Phoenix rises to buzz status and Del is the Funk Man. Let’s get stimulated!

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The Love Language hail from a storage space in Raleigh, N.C. Not bad, huh? Get the scoop from my Saturday review.

The Friendly Foes just celebrated the release of Born Radical. This catchy track could be a message to their native Detroit. Well, at least the Big Three CEO’s: “You keep saying/One day you’ll get yer shit together.”

UME (pronounced oooh mey) just got done setting their native Austin, Texas, on fire. This female-fronted trio is set to do a whole lot more in the coming month. The title cut off their Sunshine EP shows why.

Straight out of Paris, it’s the band you never heard of that you may never be able to get out of your head. Is “1901” an early front-runner for track of the year? After they reached a much wider audience playing Saturday Night Live this past weekend.

Del The Funky Homosapien has the best flow in the underground rap game and takes his vocals and penchant for being a smart ass for a good run here. The track, “Simple Satisfaction,” is the prime cut from his free Funk Man LP/mixtape available on his Web site.
